Welcome to Moose-AKa's Cabins, where every stay is crafted with passion, experience, and an unwavering commitment to hospitality.

Our adventure began in 2010, when we—Maja and Michael Waring—first set foot in Denali National Park in search of opportunity and excitement. Like many drawn to the untamed beauty of Alaska, we started as seasonal employees. But Denali had a way of capturing our hearts, and by 2013, we knew it was more than just a stop along the way—it was home.

From Food Trucks to Five-Star Recognition

In 2015, our entrepreneurial journey took off with a humble food truck, serving the Healy community with quality late-night eats. Spotting a gap in the market, we built a business that thrived, leading us to open a second location in Kona, Hawaii. As demand grew, we expanded our vision, launching the acclaimed Moose-AKa’s Eastern European Restaurant—a venture that climbed the national rankings, ultimately earning the honor of TripAdvisor’s #5 restaurant in the U.S. in 2023.

But true entrepreneurs never stop dreaming. We wanted to take everything we learned—our dedication to service, attention to detail, and knowledge of guest experiences—and create something even more unforgettable.

The Birth of Moose-AKa’s Cabins

Inspired by years of world travel and guest interactions, we envisioned a nightly rental experience that goes beyond a place to stay. Between 2020 and 2024, we stayed in over 100 accommodations—from luxurious resorts to cozy bed-and-breakfasts and remote cottages. Every stay was a learning experience, shaping the details of what would become Moose-AKa’s Cabins.

We carefully curated every element—from the furniture to the cutlery, linens, décor, and amenities—with precise attention to detail. Construction began in September 2024, paired with an epic, 8,000-mile journey to source hand-selected furnishings, ensuring that each cabin reflects comfort, character, and a touch of adventure.
